Introduction

Testing bidding scenarios in ad tech is essential, and the AAX Bid Simulator helps you do just that by mimicking bid requests and responses. With Requestly, you can easily modify HTTP request headers to fine-tune these simulations, all without coding. This post will show you how to configure the AAX Bid Simulator using Requestly’s header modification feature.

Why Use Requestly?

Requestly is a handy tool that allows you to modify, redirect, or block HTTP requests and responses. This is particularly useful when testing how different header values affect your ad tech setups.

Setting Up AAX Bid Simulator with Requestly

1. Install Requestly

First, install the Requestly extension from the Chrome Web Store or Requestly’s official website.

2. Set Up a Modify Headers Rule

The Modify Headers Rule in Requestly lets you change HTTP headers of requests and responses. You can add, edit, or remove headers to test different scenarios, such as adjusting user-agent strings or troubleshooting CORS issues. This feature helps you understand how your application interacts with different server configurations and APIs.

  • Source Condition →Specify which URLs this rule should affect.
  • Filter Out Condition → Exclude certain requests from this rule

Or create your own Rule by following the steps below

Here’s how you can modify headers to work with the AAX Bid Simulator:

  1. Open Requestly: Open Requestly app .
  2. Create a New Rule: Click on New Rule and choose Modify Headers.
  3. Enter the URL Pattern: Add the URL pattern for the AAX Bid Simulator’s request endpoint. This tells Requestly when to apply the rule.
  4. Modify Headers: Add or edit headers, like X-AAX-PricePoint or X-AAX-Video-Dimensions, based on what you want to test.
  5. Save the Rule: Once done, save the rule.
