Introducing Collection Runner: Run Complete API Workflows Seamlessly

If you work with APIs regularly, you know how time-consuming it can be to test an entire workflow like logging in, passing tokens, chaining requests, and validating responses one by one.
That’s exactly where Requestly’s Collection Runner comes in. It’s built to make your API testing process smoother, faster, and more organized while keeping everything local and private.
What is Collection Runner?
The Collection Runner lets you execute multiple API requests in sequence, mimicking real-world workflows where one request depends on another.
For example, you can:
Run a login request and capture the auth token
Pass that token automatically to fetch user data
Update user settings and validate the final response
Instead of running each API manually, you can now run the entire flow in one go.
Running a Collection
1. Open Collection Runner
In the Collections sidebar, find the collection you want to run and click the Run icon or select the Run option from the menu.
Alternatively, click Runner from the Collections tab to open the runner interface.
2. Configure Run Options
Before starting your collection, configure these options:
Iterations: Number of times to execute the full collection.
Delay: Wait time between requests (in milliseconds).
If you want to run your collection with a specific environment, use the environment selector at the upper-left corner and choose the environment you want to use.
3. Adjust Request Order or Skip Requests
Drag and drop requests to reorder them within the collection.
Uncheck any requests you do not want to include in this particular run.
This gives you flexibility to test only what you need, or to simulate different workflows without creating new collections.
4. Start the Run
Click Save and then Run.
The Collection Runner executes each request in order, following the configuration you set.
Local-first testing for full control
If you want full control over all your data, you can create a local workspace, which stores all requests, variables, and logs directly on your device instead of any cloud.
This approach ensures:
Full privacy and control over your API data
Faster execution without network delays
Consistent results across repeated runs
It’s designed to give you complete ownership of your API testing workflows.
Common use cases
- End-to-end testing: Verify multi-step workflows in one click
Integration testing: Ensure backend endpoints work together properly
Staging checks: Validate APIs before pushing updates live
