That’s a Wrap on Hacktoberfest 2025: Our Success Story

Akanksha Bhadauria
Requestly’s first Hacktoberfest was a huge success! 🎉 15 new contributors, 28 total contributions, and an incredible mix of code & no-code creativity.

When we decided to participate in Hacktoberfest 2025, we had a clear objective: to open Requestly to a wider audience of contributors and begin building a vibrant open-source community. As our first time inviting contributions on this scale, it was a significant and exciting new initiative for our team.

We believe that great contributions come in many forms, not just code. That’s why we set up dedicated opportunities for both code and “no-code” contributions.
Our goal was to make participation easier for everyone—from new coders to seasoned developers.

We went in with high hopes, but the response was truly overwhelming—in the best way possible. The level of enthusiasm, collaboration, and quality we saw from everyone who participated was amazing.

Our First Hacktoberfest Journey

To get ready, our team spent the last week of September sorting through issues, adding hacktoberfest labels, and creating “good first issues” to help newcomers find a place to start.

We went live on Oct 6, 2025 and within a few hours, the pull requests and submissions started rolling in. We saw developers picking up code issues—everything from simple documentation typos to tricky bugs we hadn’t had the chance to tackle.

But it didn’t stop there. The energy was incredible and spread right over to our no-code tracks.

By the Numbers

You all really showed up! In just 24 days, the Requestly project saw:

  • 15 new contributors join our community
  • 25 code pull requests submitted
  • 28 total contributions (code, articles, and API collections!)
  • 12 issues closed

More Than Just Code: Celebrating Our No-Code Contributors

One of our favorite parts of this month was the amazing response to our “no-code” tracks. We’ve always believed you don’t have to be a code wizard to make a huge impact in open source, and you all proved it.

We were so excited to read the insightful articles and blog posts people wrote, sharing tutorials and their “aha!” moments with Requestly.

Our top picks were:

We also saw contributors use Requestly to build and share ready-to-use API Collections for other popular open-source projects. This helps the projects in keeping their APIs close to their code and a fantastic way to show what Requestly can do.

One of the contributor created a collection of CKAN’s Public APIs:

Requestly Desktop App

He used the Local workspaces in Requestly API client for storing and versioning the API collection folder directly within the project’s Git repository.

Community Spotlight: Our Top Contributor

We are deeply grateful for every single contribution, but we wanted to give a special shout-out to the contributor who went above and beyond.

Hacktober Fest Top Contributor

This Hacktoberfest, our top contributor is Yuvaraj Sai (yuvarajsai)!

Yuvraj made an incredible impact by submitting 3 merged pull requests. He was super responsive, quick to make changes, and worked closely with our reviewers, which made the whole process a breeze.

Your dedication, high-quality code, and community spirit were amazing to see. Thank you, Yuvraj, for your outstanding work!

A Huge Thank You to Everyone

Hacktoberfest was a success because of everyone who took part.

A massive shout-out to every single person who fixed a typo, updated a doc, submitted a feature, wrote an article, or built an API collection—thank you.

And a very special thanks to our student volunteers who helped keep the wheels turning:

You are all a part of the Requestly story.

What’s Next? (Hint: Don’t Stop!)

Hacktoberfest may be over, but our community is just getting started. This month proved that amazing things happen when we build together.

We had so much fun that we’re already building towards a “November-fest” to keep the momentum going! Keep your eyes on the upcoming announcements!

If you had fun contributing (in any way!), please don’t let this be the end. We’re always active and have a ton of exciting features and improvements in the backlog.

  • Find your next task: Check out our GitHub Issues, especially the “good first issue” label.
  • Join the conversation: Hop into our Discord to chat with the team and other developers.
  • Star our repo to follow along with our progress.

Thank you all for making our first Hacktoberfest an unforgettable success. We can’t wait to see what we build together next.

Happy coding!
